October 5: The Pumpkin Patch

The Pumpkin Patch:

A collaboration between Reeves-Reed Arboretum and The Morris
County School of Glass

(For adults and children ages 10 and up)

Reeves-Reed Arboretum is excited to partner with the Morris County School of Glass to offer several programs together!  It’s a wonderful way to try your hand at glassblowing and make some beautiful organic pumpkins or gourds.

Part 1: Glassblowing

Who doesn’t love a glass pumpkin? Come try your hand at
glassmaking at the Morris County School of Glass. This fun, seasonal class will explore shaping and manipulating 2,100-degree molten glass to form a beautiful pumpkin or gourd. Leave having learned the basics of this beautiful art form.

Location: 89 Whippany Rd. in Morristown

 (Exit 1B off Hwy 24)

Part 2: Discovery Saturdays: Gourds!

After the glass cools overnight, pick it up at Reeves-Reed Arboretum on Saturday, October 12 anytime from 9 am to 1 pm and learn about
pumpkins and gourds at RRA’s weekly Discovery Saturdays program.  Through activities, games and a craft, participants will learn about the different shapes, sizes and colors of gourds. Take a guess at the number of seeds inside a pumpkin and possibly win a prize!

Participants can also borrow an Arboretum backpack loaded with binoculars, field guides, a magnifying glass and everything else needed
for outdoor Arboretum adventure! Registration is not required for this part of the program.

Pricing Notes: Each ticket is valid for one person for a 30-minute session.  For more than 1 person, buy consecutive time slots and work together.
