In this 8-week class, adults will learn the basics of acrylic painting, with a focus on painting realistic portraits. With an array of methods and tools, you will you will learn skills to progress your acrylic paintings to the next level in subject matter and technique. We will look at portrait work in steps, breaking down line work and lighting and shading in order to get a vibrant and realistic portrayal of your vision. The class will begin by working on an underpainting from concept to drawing and end with a finished 16 x 20 canvas by each student. This class is open to adults with very little painting experience, as well as intermediate students who want to improve their skills. Class will be taught by artist Kevin Scene Lewis, a professional portrait artist with experience teaching art to both kids and adults.
The cost for the entire course is $220 for non-members, $185 for members, and includes all supplies. The class will meet on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm, starting January 23. Ages 16 and up.
