Art Haven Barrhaven - Summer Camp 2021 (Full Week Registration)

At Art Haven, your budding Artist will engage in mediums such as acrylic painting on canvas, ceramic painting with glazes, hand-building with clay, pencil drawing, pastels, and some exciting new media! They will learn new techniques and take on different projects from beginning to end. Fully instructed by one of our art teachers, our smaller studio camps allow for more one-on-one attention. All materials are supplied, just bring your creativity!

Ages: 6-12 (children must be 6 at the time camp begins)

Cost: 5-Day Week $325 (+tax)  /  4-Day Week $260 (+tax)

Camp Hours: 9am-4pm

Extended Care (8am-5pm): $25 (+tax)

A daily pizza lunch is included in the price of camp: 2 slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza and a juice box (apple, orange, or apple/grape). Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions other than vegetarian. There is an option to opt out of the lunch on the registration form, which will remove $25 (+tax) from the total.

We are only accepting full-week registrations at this time; single day and half day registration is unavailable. This is to maintain a consistent amount of people and to restrict contact to one group.

Themes

Superheroes – Create incredible artworks inspired by your favourite comic-book and big-screen characters.

Under The Sea – Explore the deep blue sea and all of its creatures (both real and fantasy) through oceanic art projects.

Making Masterpieces – Develop your artistic skills and try out techniques by famous artists from history and the present.

Wizarding World – Your favourite wizarding books come to life through magical art projects inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Our most popular camp theme from previous years is back!

Occupancy

Our camp will be running at a maximum of 10 attendees, and a minimum of 4. The occupancy limit is designed so that campers have more than 2 meters of space from each other. They will have their own table space and materials. The lower limit of 4 people must be met for the camp to be able to run. If we do not reach this number, we will have to cancel that week of camp. This decision will be made in advance so that you have time to find alternate care. (Please find more information about Cancellations below)

What To Bring

All art materials are included! In case of stains or spills, please wear art-friendly clothing, and/or bring an apron. Please bring a water bottle labelled with the camper's name. We will have three food breaks during the day: two 15 minute snack breaks and an hour lunch break. Please bring nut-free food; an email will be sent out before camp if there are any other allergy concerns. A fridge is available to store lunches if needed, but we don't have a microwave or freezer. At lunch, we will play part of a movie for the kids while they eat. Movies will be rated G, but please let us know if you have any concerns. During Extended Care, we will have some activities available such as colouring or activity pages. Campers are welcome to bring quiet activities like books, sketchbooks, or crafts with them from home, but we ask that these things stay at their table, or in their bag when not in use. If the attendee has a cellphone, they are welcome to use it during Extended Care, but it must be put in their bag during camp. If you need to contact your child during camp hours, please call the studio at 613-823-6822. We ask that you keep gaming devices at home.

In-Studio Health and Safety Measures

Our summer camp has been planned with the utmost care to ensure the safety of all attendees, staff, and family members. Masks and/or face shields must be worn properly by all in our studios. Masks can only be removed when eating, which must be done seated at each attendee's personal table. Hand washing/sanitizing will be required upon entry, and we will screen each attendee daily upon arrival. Multiple sinks and sanitizing stations are available for use throughout the day. Staff will be cleaning and sanitizing all shared surfaces (washrooms, door handles, etc.) after use, and tables will be cleaned before and after eating. 

Should anyone feel sick at any point during the day, we will bring them away from the group and call their emergency contact to pick them up. If an attendee or member of their household is feeling sick before coming, they must stay home and follow Ottawa Public Health guidelines until they are no longer a risk. Project kits with simple instructions will be provided in the event of a missed day. We will be working incredibly hard to keep our camp safe; please do your part by following health guidelines and staying home if you're sick. If an attendee refuses to follow the above guidelines, we will call their emergency contact to come pick them up.

Cancellation Policy

If we have to cancel camp because of changing Provincial restrictions or because of low occupancy, a full refund will be provided. We really hope that camp can run, but we're prepared with our take-home camp kits in the event that in-person can't run. Kits include the exact same projects as the in-person camp. If we do have to cancel camp, you will be notified via email; at this point we'll have you either confirm that you would like the full refund, or if you would like a take-home camp kit, we can refund you the difference.

In the event that you have to cancel your registration, your payment will be transferred to store credit. A full refund will only be provided if you can fill your spot with a friend, or from our waiting list. Store credit can be used towards any of our services, and doesn't expire.

As stated above, if you are unable to come part-way through because of sickness, we will prepare kits and instructions for all missed projects.
