This is an introductory class that will give you the chance to try out a potter's wheel and get your hands dirty, while our instructor helps you to make your own unique pot. Come ready to have a good time. We will fire up to two pieces of your choice, and they will be ready for pickup in about 2-3 weeks. It is your responsibility to pick up your pieces within 14 days after they are fired.
All participants must bring a towel to wipe your hands and wear an apron/clothes you can get dirty (clay does wash out).
Part of the process in wheel throwing is basic studio etiquette. Your class time includes not only throwing, but also cleaning your wheel and surrounding floor area and clay tools that were used. Clay is messy - leave your watches and rings at home. A clean studio is a healthy studio as clay dust can build up.
It is the participant's responsibility to check the Rumriver Art Center website (https://rumriverart.com/classes/clay-firing-and-pick-up/) to see when my clay projects are ready. Once the clay projects are ready, participants have 14 days to pick up their projects. After 14 days we will re-purpose any projects that were unclaimed.
