Lightburn: Basic Graphic Design

Intimidated by Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, and all the other fancy Graphic Design programs? Lightburn Software not only controls our lasers but offers an affordable, powerful and easy to learn graphic design alternative. This class will focus on Lightburn and teach the participant the skills needed to design and prepare projects for the Laser with shop lead and instructor Steve Bird. We will cover the basics, learn many tricks and shortcuts in Lightburn. By using free art from the internet and the graphic design capabilities in Lightburn, you will learn how to quickly design custom pieces that will make beautiful gifts for your family and friends or products to sell to your customers. During the class, we will design Ornaments, but these skills can be applied to almost anything you want to design in Lightburn.

This is a 2 session class! This class runs on the second Wednesday and Thursday of each month, from 6:30P-8:30P both days.

Students will need to bring a laptop in order to participate in this class. Lightburn does not require a powerful computer for most work, though if your designs contain a lot of images, more memory is helpful. As with most things, a faster computer will make it easier to work with large images or complex vector graphics.

Minimum Computer System Requirements: Lightburn will run on Windows 7.0 or later, 32 or 64 bit, MacOS 10.11 or later, or 64 bit Linux (Ubuntu 16+ or Fedora 28+, anything else may not work as intended).

There must be at least 2 people in this class for it to run.  If there are not enough participants, we will email participants as close to 24hrs in advance as possible and remit refunds by the next business day.
