Intro to the Wheel * Required if you have never used a pottery wheel*
The wheel lesson includes basic clay instruction, a wheel demonstration and coaching using clay to make a small bowl or mug. The wheel lesson also includes studio time to glaze and fire for your finished pieces.
Continuing Wheel - Must have prior wheel experience or Intro to Wheel lesson first. This opportunity allows you to make a more advanced project, and two throws. Includes up to 2.5 pounds of clay, glazing and firing of up to 2 pieces. The wheel lesson also includes studio time to glaze and fire for your finished pieces.
Any of our clay appointments (hand building or wheel lessons) will involve 3 trips; 1st to make your piece (to which we will slow dry and then fire to bisque), 2nd to come back and glaze (paint) your piece and fire it again and lastly the 3rd will be to pick up your item(s). A pottery wheel is a professional tool that takes many hours to master, and this class is designed to introduce you to all the concepts; involving get your hands dirty, trying the various skills on the wheel and having fun! It does take a reasonable amount of strength and dexterity.
