Learn the basics of using our ShopBot CnC router. This 2-part class takes you through the process of creating a basic design and then walks you through the machining process. Day 1 of class focuses solely on the software (VCarve Pro), and day 2 gives you hands on experience with the machining process. The ShopBot can cut 2D, 2.5D, and basic 3D in materials like wood, metal, foam, and plastic in sizes up to 8’ x 4’ including full sheets of plywood, great for furniture and fabrication projects.
This 2 Day class is a tool clearance class for Idea Foundry members. Day 1 consists of following along with the instructor on a provided laptop to create a basic design, and getting familiar with the CAM software. In day 2 you will take the file you made in the first class and attach it to the CNC machine and cut it out.
Day 1 runs 2.5 hours long. Day 2 only runs an hour per student. Day 2 is normally done the day following the Day 1 class, you can select the timeslot or make arrangements with the instructor during class for an alternate day.
