Looking for something really unique for this holiday, but mom/dad/grandma already has everything they could possibly want? Here’s a unique idea that they definitely won’t be expecting. In this project class, participants will have the opportunity to create custom laser-engraved key chains on anodized aluminum or wood. Participants will select photos that they would like etched on a keychain and submit them ahead of time. During the class, a demonstration of how photos are edited will be done live. Prepared images will be transferred to the laser etching system and will be etched right in front of your eyes. Participants can select from wood or metal keychains during the event. Each participant will be able to create two or three key chains, depending which option is selected.

Plan Your Visit
- We will reach out to you ahead of the class to request photos for submission. Not all photos will etch well, so you are welcome to submit extra photos, and label them with your preferred order (i.e. 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc.). Recommendations for photos are ones with high clarity, contrast and resolution. As a check, convert the photo to black and white on your side before submitting it to assure you like the look. (If you do not know how to do this, please email us and we'll help!) Engraving, especially on wood, will cause some loss of image quality. Recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) to bring with you include safety glasses, close toed shoes, natural fiber clothing (cotton, denim, linen).
- Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk. Our main entrance is on State Street, with paid parking available on the street (about $1/hr) and fully validated parking in the Gravity Garage (see registration email for details).
