Custom Laser Cut Book Ends

 Have a book collection, but missing that unique, custom book end that sets the collection apart from your friends? Here’s your opportunity to create exactly what you’re looking for, something that’s unique from everyone else, just like your collection. In this project class, we’ll learn how to create custom book ends using the computer, how to laser cut them out in multiple pieces, assemble them, and paint them. Four sets of common themes will be available to choose from during the class. Custom options may be able to be accommodated if communicated ahead of the class. Participants will walk away with their own unique set of book ends to use at home!

Plan Your Visit

• During this class, we’ll spend time at a computer learning how to design our book ends. This will be performed in a lecture style on a larger screen. The instructor will provide all of the material required for the class. Basic paints and colors will be provided, so if you want something more specific, it is recommended to bring those with you. Additionally, if you plan to paint, we recommend bringing a box to put your book ends in so that they do not get paint in your car. Recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) to bring with you include safety glasses, close toed shoes, natural fiber clothing (cotton, denim, linen). 
• Plan to arrive for class about 10-15 min early and check in at the front desk. Our main entrance is on State Street, with paid parking available on the street (about $1/hr) and fully validated parking in the Gravity Garage (see registration email for details).
